1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Japanzy ("Japanzy," "we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use the Japanzy Live mobile application (the "App"), visit japanzy.com (the "Website"), or contact us. The App and Website are collectively called the "Services."

2. Information we handle

2.1 Information you provide

You may voluntarily send us:

• camera reports, including the selected reason, camera identifier, camera title, camera URL, and any optional message;
• feedback or suggestions and the text you enter; and
• your email address, when you choose to provide it for a response.

Do not include sensitive personal information in a report or feedback message.

2.2 Information stored on your device

The App may store your favorites, recently viewed cameras, language choice, cached camera/news/event data, and similar preferences locally on your device. This information is used to provide App features and is not sent to Japanzy merely because it is stored locally. You can remove it by clearing the App's storage or uninstalling the App.

2.3 Technical and usage information

The current App does not include an advertising SDK or a Japanzy-operated analytics SDK. When the App or Website requests files from our hosting provider, standard server and security logs may process information such as IP address, request time, requested URL, device or browser information, and diagnostic data. We use such information to deliver, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain the Services.

The Website may use Google Analytics and related browser cookies to understand Website traffic and performance. You can restrict cookies through your browser settings or use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. This Website analytics statement does not mean that the App itself contains Google Analytics.

2.4 Device permissions

The current App does not request access to sensitive Android device permissions such as precise location, camera, microphone, contacts, or photos for its normal operation. If a future feature requires a permission, the App will request it through the operating system and this policy will be updated where appropriate.

3. How we use information

We use information only as reasonably necessary to:

• provide camera listings, news, events, favorites, recently viewed items, language preferences, and other App features;
• receive, investigate, and respond to camera reports, feedback, and support requests;
• detect outages, abuse, security threats, and technical problems;
• maintain and improve the Services; and
• comply with applicable law and enforce our rights.

4. Services provided by other companies

The Services rely on third parties that may process information under their own terms and privacy policies:

• YouTube/Google: Camera streams are provided by their respective YouTube publishers and may be embedded in the App. Loading or interacting with a video can send device, network, cookie, playback, and usage information to YouTube or Google. See the Google Privacy Policy.
• Formspree: Camera reports and feedback are transmitted to Formspree for form processing and delivery. See the Formspree Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare: Japanzy uses Cloudflare for hosting, content delivery, DNS, and security. Cloudflare may process request and security information when the Services load remote data. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
• News and external publishers: The App may display attributed information obtained from publisher feeds, including The Japan Times RSS feed. Opening an article takes you to the publisher, whose privacy policy applies.
• Buy Me a Coffee: If you choose to support Japanzy, you are taken to an external Buy Me a Coffee page. Japanzy does not collect or process your payment-card details. See the Buy Me a Coffee Privacy Policy.
• App stores: Google Play or Apple may process download, purchase, device, crash, and account information under their own policies when distributing the App.

5. Sharing and sale of information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share or permit processing of information:

• with the service providers described above when needed to operate the Services;
• when you direct us to open or interact with a third-party service;
• when required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
• to protect users, the public, Japanzy, or the security and integrity of the Services; or
• in connection with a business reorganization, subject to applicable law.

6. Retention

Local App information remains on your device until you remove it, clear App storage, or uninstall the App. We retain submitted reports, feedback, email correspondence, and related records only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain the Services, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. Third-party providers determine retention for information they process under their own policies.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the Services. However, no internet transmission, mobile application, or electronic storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International processing

Japanzy and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different privacy laws. Where required, information is handled using legally recognized safeguards.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of personal information we hold about you, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You may also:

• omit your email address from a camera report when it is optional;
• avoid submitting feedback or reports;
• clear locally stored App data through your device settings;
• manage Website cookies in your browser; and
• contact us to make a privacy request.

We may need to verify your request. Some information may be retained when required by law or for legitimate security, fraud-prevention, or recordkeeping purposes.

10. Children's privacy

The Services are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

11. Third-party content and links

Japanzy does not own or operate the public cameras, YouTube channels, news publishers, or external sites linked through the Services. Their content and privacy practices are controlled by their respective operators. Review their policies before providing information to them.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Services, providers, or law. We will post the updated policy here and revise the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
